In addition to the negative impact on an individual's quality-of-life3,56 there is a large societal financial burden associated with CMP. Annual healthcare costs for patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP) are double those of matched controls19. In the United Kingdom, The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence estimate the direct cost of low back pain at over £2.1 billion39.
